Tinder is a location-based dating and social discovery and service application (using Facebook) that facilitates communication between mutually interested users, allowing matched users to chat.
Online dating is a personal introductory arrangement whereby individuals can find and contact each other over the Internet to arrange a date, usually with the intent of developing a personal, romantic, or sexual relationship. Online daters/members use criteria other members set, such as age range, gender and location. But, pictures and conversations are of course not enough to develop a healthy relationship. Meeting up would be the first move in online dating.
Meeting up, taking on a few dates, then plan for marriage if they click. This process could take years, especially when they are not familiar with each other’s lives. But for popular Indonesian TV host/comedian Rey Utami and rich businessman Pablo Putera Benua, time shouldn’t be wasted. As a matter of fact, they got married just a week after meeting up!
On their second date that followed their first date and meeting, Pablo bought Rey a Honda HRV that costs approximately RM120,000 (a $28,000). On the third day, Pablo decided to ‘improve’ his gifts by giving Rey a $300,000 luxury watch!
“After our first meet up, he bought me a Honda HRV car on the second day. On the third day, he bought me a Rp 4 billion [US$307,988] watch,” Rey Utami said.
And on the fourth day, an unexpected turn of events shocked many netizens and Indonesians: Pablo proposed for marriage!
“On the fourth day, he asked me to marry him. He met my parents on the fifth day, we made preparations for our wedding on the sixth day and on the seventh day, we got married,” she added.
As soon as news of their marriage broke, netizens promptly criticised Rey for marrying Pablo simply because of his wealth and lavish gifts.
But Rey firmly denied the accusations and clarified that she married her husband because “he proved to me how much he loves me.”
The couple married on 23 July 2016 in an intimate and private wedding attended by 40 people.
